Applications are invited to apply for the Hakuhodo Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship 2021. International students from all over the world are eligible to apply for the Japanese Research Fellowship.

With the goals of further strengthening the fundamentals of international ResearchResearch into Japan and increasing understanding of Japan, the Japanese Research Fellowship welcomes leading international researchers of the Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature and Japanese culture to Japan to conduct residential ResearchResearch.

Eligibility Criteria

•  Postdoctoral scholars, adjunct professors and part-time lecturers, or have relevant research & educational background.
• Researchers with a doctoral degree (including the degree to be granted on or before December 31, 2020) OR an equivalent level of research or educational background.
• Satisfactory Japanese language proficiency to be qualified to conduct research in Japanese.
• Non-Japanese nationals residing outside of Japan or Japanese nationals who have resided outside Japan for ten years or more and have been engaged in the academic community, etc. Of the country of their residence.
• Able to stay continuously in Japan for the duration of the Fellowship period and participate in research reporting sessions organized by the Foundation.
